When it comes to competitive play, players debate which Specializations are the best. While every Specialization has its uses, here’s a quick look at how different Specializations rank in the current meta (from top-tier to situational). Keep in mind the meta can shift, but this gives a general idea:
- S-Tier Specializations: Cloaking Device (Light) and Recon Senses (Medium) – These two are always at the top of every tier list. Cloaking Device gives you invisibility for sneaky plays and big brain flanks, while Recon Senses lets you detect nearby enemies through walls. Both are a huge tactical advantage, making them the best for many players.* A-Tier Specializations: Mesh Shield (Heavy), Healing Beam (Medium), Goo Gun (Heavy) – Strong choices that can turn the match around. Mesh Shield deploys cover on demand, great for defense or pushing objectives safely. Healing Beam is the ultimate team support, keeping your allies in the fight. Goo Gun spews foam that slows enemies and blocks paths, excellent for area denial. These are good picks just below S-Tier.
- B-Tier Specializations: Guardian Turret (Medium), Charge ’N’ Slam (Heavy), Grappling Hook (Light) – These are solid and fun abilities but more situational. Guardian Turret auto-fires at enemies and can hold angles (awesome for defense, though destroyable). Charge ’N’ Slam lets you Hulk-smash into the ground, dealing massive area damage – extremely satisfying, but you need good timing and positioning. Grappling Hook offers amazing mobility to creative players; you can zip to high ground or make quick escapes, though it takes skill to maximize. In good hands any of these can shine.
- C-Tier Specialization: Evasive Dash (Light) – A quick directional dodge that helps you avoid danger or get a short burst of speed. It’s useful (dodging rockets like a ninja never gets old), but compared to the game-changing impact of other Specializations, Evasive Dash is often considered the least impactful in the current meta. Many Light build players prefer Cloak or Grapple for a stronger advantage.
The Finals is pretty balanced – even C-tier isn’t bad and a B-tier Specialization in the right moment can win games. But if you want to use the best Specializations you might find yourself gravitating to the S and A tiers. Whatever you choose, we can help you level it up so it’s ready to perform at its best.
