WoW Forever Camping Blueprints and Workstation Requirements
WoW Forever Camping transforms the Cooking campfire into a shared camp with profession buffs that last 1 hour. Advanced features of this system require a blueprint from a dungeon boss. The game checks your profession skill at every step, from learning the blueprint to crafting gear next to a workstation in a camp in the open world. Both large campfires and camping buffs have their own rules.
Six popular skill 140 blueprints drop from specific dungeon bosses. The NPC Happy Camper sells these recipes in the beta client at the Gates of Ironforge and near Orgrimmar under the title “PTR Camping Vendor.” This title does not confirm the source of the blueprints after the launch of WoW Forever on November 4.
Where Camping Blueprints Drop
Blizzard has included WoW Forever Camping skill 140 blueprints in dungeon and raid loot. Beta testers have linked six popular workstations to specific bosses in classic and new Azeroth instances based on their loot data over several weeks of testing:
| Blueprint | Skill | Boss | Dungeon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tanning Rack | Leatherworking 140 | Razorclaw the Butcher | Shadowfang Keep |
| Spinning Wheel | Tailoring 140 | Unstable Sentinel | City of Dalaran |
| Greenhouse | Herbalism 140 | Shadetooth | Excavation Site |
| Fermenter | Alchemy 140 | Rath'mael | Ruins of Lordaeron |
| Fishing Rack | Fishing 140 | Gelihast | Blackfathom Deeps |
| Toxin Study | First Aid 140 | Commander Springvale | Shadowfang Keep |
We recommend planning a WoW Forever run to these bosses at launch, because the “PTR Camping Vendor” title from Happy Camper applies to the test server. Our team conducts these dungeon runs and Camping Objects Unlock. The number of attempts to obtain the desired blueprint depends on random loot drops.
Tanning Rack and Spinning Wheel Requirements
The Tanning Rack and Spinning Wheel require a skill level of 140 to learn, craft, and place. The blueprint teaches a workstation recipe. This recipe transforms materials into a consumable that you place next to a campfire, at the cost of a shared one-hour cooldown for all your WoW Forever Camping objects. Gear at the finished workstation requires its own pattern and skill threshold.
How to Unlock a Tanning Rack
A leatherworker unlocks the Tanning Rack in five steps. Each step (from looting in Shadowfang Keep to obtaining your first piece of gear at your own workstation in the WoW Forever camp) has its own requirements:
- Loot from Razorclaw the Butcher - The Shadowfang Keep boss drops a blueprint for the Tanning Rack. Blizzard has not published the drop rate for this blueprint.
- Learning the blueprint - The recipe requires Leatherworking 140 and teaches one workstation without gear patterns. Beta testers resold it on the auction house because the item is not character-bound.
- Crafting the workstation - Each Tanning Rack costs 5 Medium Leather and 3 Fine Thread. The recipe also adds 2 Simple Wood.
- Placing it near a campfire - The tooltip again checks for Leatherworking 140 and requires a Campfire nearby. The workstation goes on top of the Camp Tent and retains its Rested experience bonus.
- Gear at the workstation - Stalker's Mail Bracers require Leatherworking 225, their own pattern for Merchant's Favor, and a Tanning Rack near the leatherworker.
The Tanning Rack does not teach this recipe. Any leatherworker with the Stalker's Mail Bracers pattern can craft the bracers even at someone else's workstation, provided it stands near the same campfire. That's why a single such workstation from a player with Leatherworking 140 is sufficient for the entire camp.
How to Learn and Use a Spinning Wheel
A tailor learns the Spinning Wheel from a blueprint that drops from Unstable Sentinel in the City of Dalaran, which a group of levels 28-33 can enter after the attunement quest chain with the Kirin Tor. The path from this quest chain to crafting at the spinning wheel includes five steps:
- Attunement for Dalaran - The Alliance begins the quest chain with “An Alarming Request” from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. The Horde takes “Key to the City” and “Prison Break-In” from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill.
- Tailoring 140 - You need this level to learn the blueprint, craft the wheel, and place it. Tailors below this threshold can craft station recipes at someone else's wheel in the camp.
- Fabric and Wood - The wheel requires 5 Bolt of Silk Cloth and 3 Fine Thread. The third component is 2 Simple Wood.
- Faction Banner as a Base - The Spinning Wheel goes on top of the banner and preserves its Spirit for players of your faction. Characters from the opposing faction do not receive this buff in your camp.
- Reagents Near the Wheel - The tooltip allows you to craft some Tailoring reagents near this workstation. The client does not display the full list of these reagents.
The blueprint teaches the tailor how to place the wheel but does not unlock gear recipes. Nethergeld Shoulders require Tailoring 195, a separate pattern for Merchant's Favor, and a Spinning Wheel nearby while you work at the campfire. ChaosBoost provides City of Dalaran attunement and dungeon assistance up to Unstable Sentinel.
Greenhouse and Fishing Station Unlocks
The Greenhouse and Fishing Rack unlock a profession utility for the camp at skill level 140. Two more stations at this level operate on the same principle. The basic buff from each of these workstations replicates the effect of its skill-level-20 version and does not give a second stack at the same campfire. Camp guests without these professions receive the buff after 1 minute of sitting or crafting in the camp. None of these stations' tooltips promise harvest size, catch volume, or gold per hour.
Greenhouse Seeds and Herbalism Requirements
The Greenhouse grows herbs from Herb Seeds, which drop for herbalists when they gather common herbs in the open world of WoW Forever in four rarity tiers from Commonplace to Scarce. Five factors determine how the greenhouse functions:
- Shadetooth - The Excavation Site boss for levels 24-29 drops the blueprint for the Greenhouse. The dungeon stands above Whelgar's Excavation, near Thelgen Rock and Dun Algaz.
- Herbalism 140 - You need this skill level to learn the blueprint, craft the greenhouse, and place it. All three Herbalism recipes in WoW Forever fall under the Camping category.
- Wood and two flowers - The recipe uses 1 Arthas' Tears and 1 Purple Lotus. It also requires 2 Simple Wood.
- Incense Candle Buff - The Greenhouse goes on top of the candle and grants its Intellect bonus to players in the camp. A Mage's Arcane Intellect overrides this buff.
- Planting Seeds - The seed tooltip sends them to the Greenhouse to grow herbs. Blizzard has not published the growth timer or harvest yield.
Herbalism 140 is not yet sufficient to harvest Arthas' Tears and Purple Lotus. You'll need to purchase both flowers for your first greenhouse from the auction house or from an herbalist with a higher skill level. Our team will raise your Herbalism to 140 as part of profession leveling for your character.
Fermenter Reagent Crafting
The Fermenter gives an alchemist a workstation for crafting specific reagents. The path to this workstation consists of four steps, from the loot in the Ruins of Lordaeron above Undercity to its placement atop the Mana Well in the camp:
- Rath'mael Loot - This boss in the Ruins of Lordaeron drops the blueprint for the Fermenter. The Alliance must travel through Horde territory to reach the entrance.
- Alchemy 140 - A skill level below this threshold prevents you from learning the recipe, even if you have the blueprint in your bag.
- Three Reagents - Crafting the station uses 1 Kingsblood and 1 Swiftthistle. The recipe also requires 1 Leaded Vial.
- Mana Well Inheritance - The Fermenter replaces the Mana Well in camp and retains its mana regeneration effect. A Paladin's Blessing of Wisdom overrides this effect.
The tooltip does not name these reagents one by one. Blizzard also did not publish a complete list of Alchemy recipes that require a Fermenter, either in the Camping announcement or in the WoW Forever profession overview. That's why alchemists should check the required station for each craft in the Professions tab.
How to Learn Fishing Rack
Fishermen learn the Fishing Rack from a blueprint that drops from the murloc Gelihast in Blackfathom Deeps on the Ashenvale coast and craft this workstation from three materials at Fishing 140. The list of its requirements and effects is short:
- Fishing 140 - All three steps (from learning the blueprint to placing it by a campfire) require this skill.
- Wood, glass, and fish - Each crafting attempt takes 2 Raw Mithril Head Trout and 1 Crystal Vial. The recipe also requires 2 Simple Wood.
- Tooltip Promises - This item gives 3,600 seconds of uncommon fish catches, fishing lures, and all Fish Bowl effects according to the tooltip. You place it on top of the Fish Bowl instead of a new slot in your camp.
- Beta Reports - The item's owner got a buff for uncommon fish and took two +50 lures from it. Testers' catches of bloated fish varied by zone.
Some testers did not receive this buff at all. The Fishing Hut at Fishing 300 is responsible for rare fish according to its tooltip, so the Fishing Rack does not guarantee either rare catches or gold per hour. The source of the blueprint for the Fishing Hut is still unknown.
Toxin Study and First Aid
A medic with First Aid 140 receives the Toxin Study blueprint from Commander Springvale. The workstation requires four things, from the loot in Shadowfang Keep to its placement on top of the First Aid Kit at your camp by the campfire:
- Commander Springvale - This boss drops the blueprint in Shadowfang Keep. We recommend that leatherworkers and medics farm this dungeon as a group, because Razorclaw the Butcher gives the blueprint for the Tanning Rack there.
- First Aid 140 - You need this skill to learn the blueprint and to craft the workstation. A medic takes First Aid in addition to their two primary professions.
- Bandages and Antidote - Crafting consumes 1 Anti-Venom and 2 Mageweave Bandage. 2 Simple Wood complete the recipe.
- First Aid Kit Bonus - Toxin Study goes on top of the First Aid Kit and preserves its Stamina buff. The Priest's Stamina effect overrides it.
First Aid crafts healing potions instead of Alchemy in Forever. The tooltip lists the station's contents (healing potions and anti-venom) but does not specify the number of potions or the rules for distributing them among players in the camp. That's why each camp guest's share is unknown until the launch of WoW Forever.
Campfire Upgrade Requirements
Campfire upgrades require the cook to reach two Cooking levels. The blueprint teaches the recipe for a larger campfire before they gain the right to place the finished kit in their camp according to the beta client 1.60.1:
| Campfire | Learning & Crafting | Kit Placement | Slots | Recipe Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Campfire | Cooking 1 | Cooking 1 | Three | Cooking Trainer |
| Journeyman Campfire | Cooking 90 | Cooking 140 | Five | Wailing Caverns |
| Expert Campfire | Cooking 200 | Cooking 220 | Ten | Unknown |
Blizzard has confirmed campfires for five and ten objects. The beta client's tooltip shows the Cooking requirements for learning and setting up these campfires, so Blizzard may still change them before the November 4 launch. Beta testers have not found the source for the Expert blueprint in any dungeons or at Happy Camper.
Do Camping Buffs Stack With Class Buffs?
Camping buffs in WoW Forever do not stack with class buffs because Blizzard has made the effects of camp objects variants of buffs from specific classes in the group. The five workstations with skill level 140 retain the bonuses of their predecessors:
| Station | Inherits | Effect | Does not stack with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fishing Rack | Fish Bowl | +8% to stats | Blessing of Kings |
| Fermenter | Mana Well | Mana regeneration | Blessing of Wisdom |
| Spinning Wheel | Faction Banner | Spirit for your faction | Divine Spirit |
| Greenhouse | Incense Candle | Intellect | Arcane Intellect |
| Toxin Study | First Aid Kit | Stamina | Power Word: Fortitude |
Each player places one object in camp and receives the effects of others after 1 minute of sitting or crafting by the campfire. The Tanning Rack retains the Camp Tent's Rested experience bonus of 5% of a level, which does not work with a larger Rested pool and does not conflict with class buffs. The shared 1-hour cooldown for Camping differs from the 5-minute cooldown for the campfire kit.
