Mythical Soul Fragment Quests and Rewards in WoW Midnight
Mythical Soul Fragment is a quest reward from the NPC Wah'du in the weekly quest series in WoW Midnight. This NPC will exchange three of these fragments inside the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan for a Myth 2/6 armor piece in a slot of your choice from his current selection. Players can find a similar Heroic Soul Fragment in the Bountiful Coffers of the same Labyrinth at Tier 8 or higher. Exchanging three of these fragments gives a random Hero 2/6 piece of gear with no slot selection.
A new quest for a Mythical fragment has appeared once a week since the release of update 12.1.5 for WoW Midnight. The entire series has six steps and two Myth rewards in the slots you need. Each step sends you to a specific chamber in the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan with a Tier 8 or higher quest objective and a reward from Wah'du. Skipping a week does not reset this series or take away your Myth rewards.
Mythical Soul Fragment and Heroic Rewards
The Labyrinth of Kindo'jan in WoW Midnight drops two types of Soul Fragments with similar names, the same exchange rate of three per reward, and different Hero and Myth rewards. Four parameters help distinguish these fragments from each other before the first exchange:
| Parameter | Heroic | Mythical |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Bountiful Coffers | Wah'du chamber quest |
| Difficulty | Tier 8 and above | Tier 8 and above |
| Reward Track | Hero 2/6 | Myth 2/6 |
| Item Selection | Random Hero item | Armor of your choice (by slot) |
The Myth track does not raise the difficulty threshold for the Mythical fragment to Tier 11 and does not require a solo run. That's why a single Tier 8 run can yield both a Heroic Soul Fragment from Bountiful Coffers and the reward for the current Wah'du quest. The Mythical fragment's tooltip tells you to exchange it with Wah'du inside the Labyrinth for Myth 2/6 gear.
Wah'du Quests and Chamber Objectives
A quest from Wah'du (Servant of de Loa) specifies one of nine chambers and the objective within it. Your character progresses toward the first Mythical fragment at Tier 8 or higher in three stages, from entering the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan to checking the next step:
- Introduction - The campaign quest “The Long Way Around” or “The Labyrinth” from Kul'amara the Fierce at Tokka's Landing starts the chain to the Labyrinth north of Amani Pass in Eversong Woods. This chain leads you to Valeera Sanguinar at the entrance and the quest “Dangers Untold and Hardships Unnumbered.” It culminates in the Chamber of Rites and a conversation with Kinduru, who unlocks the remaining chambers.
- Clearing a Chamber - The series' first quests Akil'zon's Roost and Halazzi's Lair require you to clear intruders from the chamber of the same name on Tier 8+. Chests along the way and a full clear of other chambers do not substitute for this task, even on high difficulty. You'll find the objectives for the next four steps later in the text of the new quests from Wah'du.
- Turn-in and Catch-up - Each of these two quests grants one Mythical fragment and Undercoin upon turn-in to Wah'du. The NPC adds steps from previous weeks one at a time after every hand-in until your character catches up with the current week of the series.
You can complete multiple steps of the series in a single run at Tier 8 or higher. But the objectives for these steps may lie in different wings of the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan. We recommend planning your run route from the current quest and the wing of its chamber, because Blizzard allows you to clear the Labyrinth one wing at a time per run and still receive rewards.
Weekly Unlocks and Catch-Up Limits
The game unlocks a new quest in the series from Wah'du once a week and saves each task from previous weeks for you until you complete and turn it in. Five rules of the series set different limits for fragments, steps, and Myth rewards:
| Mechanic | Rule | Number |
|---|---|---|
| New Quest | Tier 8+ Goal | One per week |
| Catch-up | After quest turn-in | One step at a time |
| Wah'du Series | Two Myth rewards | Six steps |
| Fragment exchange | Myth 2/6 of your choice | Three fragments per reward |
| Fragment stack | BoP, non-transferable | 20 per stack |
The number 20 in the Mythical fragment tooltip describes the stack size in your bag and does not set a weekly limit. A real cap comes from the six-step series itself, which offers two Myth rewards. The BoP restriction ensures that each fragment remains with the character who completed the objective in the designated chamber of the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan and turned in the quest to Wah'du.
Myth Rewards and Run Planning
Wah'du displays the stats and slot of any Myth 2/6 reward inside the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan even before you trade in the three fragments from your bag. You need to perform three checks before you make this trade and start a new run on Tier 8+:
- Current Reward - Compare the Myth 2/6 track and the stats of each item in Wah'du's current offer with your gear in the same slot. Older reward descriptions from the PTR and third-party slot lists may differ from this offer in track and item selection.
- Character, Quest, and Wing - Check the current step in the series in the quest log of the character who will receive the reward and spend their BoP fragments. The chamber from this step determines the Labyrinth wing for the next run at the desired difficulty. Each additional chamber in the same run adds chances for loot but also carries greater risk.
- Our Team's Assistance - The “Chamber Run” option in the WoW boost catalog covers a Labyrinth run at Tier 8+ in Piloted, Selfplay, or Remote modes and can add an unlock of the tier you need. An operator will confirm the current quest and the desired wing with you before you place the order, because a three-chamber run may not include the chamber from the quest. Our team does not sell the BoP fragments themselves.
Three weekly resets after the release of WoW Midnight's 12.1.5 update have unlocked the first Myth reward from Wah'du for players. The second reward will require three more fragments from the new steps of the same series. We believe it's best to choose a slot for it at the time of purchase, because a raid, Mythic+, or the Great Vault might give your character an item for that slot sooner.
