Amazing calibration results! The booster won almost all my placement games, so I started the season at a much higher rank than usual.
How Does Dota 2 Calibration Work?
Dota 2 calibration is the process that sets your initial rating or updates your current rank after a seasonal reset. It’s the foundation for your matchmaking experience, putting you in games with gamers of similar skill. The process of getting a rating evaluates your performance across multiple games, taking into account wins, individual contribution and the skill of your opponents and teammates.
When calibration starts you’ll need to play a set number of matches, usually 10, to determine your MMR. Each match affects your rating based on your team’s performance and your impact in the game. Winning during rating placements gives you a big MMR boost, losing gives you a lower starting rating. That’s why this part of the game is so important, it directly affects how competitive your future matches will be.
How Many Games Do You Have to Play to Calibrate Your MMR?
For most players 10 games is the standard calibration. These games are a trial period where your performance and win rate is evaluated to set your starting MMR or recalibrate your rank. Valve recently introduced a "Rank Confidence" system which affects how MMR is calculated. Winning streaks, individual hero performance and your team’s average skill level are taken into account. Since ELO placement games weigh heavily on your rank, winning every match is crucial, and we’re ready to assist you in this difficult process, relieving you from the stress and pressure.
