What Level Do You Need for Green Wing Macaw?

A character of any level can learn this pet. Its tooltip does not include a Requires Level line. That's why we can send the pet even to a brand-new character. Level is important for your own farming of elite Defias Pirates (levels 19–20) in the Westfall dungeon.

Is Green Wing Macaw Worth It in WoW Forever?

Green Wing Macaw Drop in Deadmines

The parrot drops from Defias Pirates in the Westfall dungeon. This drop source has not changed since Classic. The drop rate for the cage is 3% per pirate kill in Classic.

Groups enter this dungeon at levels 17–26. The pirates in it are elite mobs. They share the old Westfall mines with eight bosses and the rare Miner Johnson. Our team runs these mines without your participation as many times as necessary to secure a drop in your region and ruleset. You won’t need a group to fight elite mobs for a 3% chance.

The Classic version bound the Parrot Cage to the character upon use. Blizzard removed this binding in Forever. That's why players can now transfer the cage to another character. This allows you to send your pet to any alt of your faction in the same world.

Blizzard has reduced experience gains from dungeon mobs in Forever. A party with a character many levels higher than these enemies does not receive any XP at all. That's why a series of runs for the drop in the Westfall dungeon is not a substitute for quests in this and neighboring zones when leveling up to the level cap of 60. We recommend leaving the pirates to our team and leveling up in the open world.

Type /way 78.1 51.9 in chat for a map waypoint. A boat runs there from Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris. This route allows you to search for the cage without having to farm pirates.

Madam Swyndle auctions off Dungeon Set 1 gear from 100 g. Her listings also include pets and tabards. Each item goes to the player with the highest bid. The pet you want may not be available when the selection at this auction changes. You can buy Green Wing Macaw on ChaosBoost instead of waiting for your lot from Madam Swyndle and bidding against other players at Powderfuse Port.
