Hippogryph Hatchling From the Classic TCG
This pet came to Classic from the World of Warcraft TCG. Players found its code on the rare Thunderhead Hippogryph loot card in booster packs from the first set, Heroes of Azeroth. The code gave an item with BoP binding to one character. This companion had no in-game source in Classic. Collectors had to hunt down the card itself.
Blizzard brought the hippogryph back to Forever via Madam Swyndle’s lots in the goblin port of Riverglades. Mobs, quests, and vendors do not give this item. But the item no longer has the BoP restriction from Classic. This allows you to send the hippogryph via mail from your main character to any alt of your faction on the same ruleset.
The item’s tooltip shows Item Level 1 and a Use effect. This effect summons the companion by right-clicking and dismisses it with the same click. There is no Requires Level line in the tooltip.
Black Market Auction House Lot Rotation
Madam Swyndle’s lot selection changes from rotation to rotation. That’s why the TCG hippogryph does not always appear among her lots. The highest bid at the end of the auction takes it. We’ll outbid other players for you on your ruleset and transfer it via mail or trade. You won’t have to check every new rotation on the black market at Powderfuse Port (Riverglades).
Rare Companion Pets in WoW Forever
Madam Swyndle also lists other rare companions as lots. Sprite Darter Egg was a reward in Classic for the Becoming a Parent quest for Alliance players. The new Forever pets (Flowery Lashling Bud and Wilted Lashling Bud) bind upon first use and remain with the owner thereafter. There are no other TCG pets in these lots that have no in-game source in Classic. That’s why we recommend starting your collection of rare companions with the hippogryph from Heroes of Azeroth.
