Where Does Robe of the Archmage Drop?

The robe does not drop from mobs or bosses. A mage tailor crafts it from a pattern that elite Firebrand Pyromancers dropped in Lower Blackrock Spire in Classic. The pattern itself is not BoP. You can purchase it from another player on the auction house.

What Level Do You Need for Robe of the Archmage?

A mage of level 57 or higher can wear the robe. Crafting it also requires the pattern, for which tailors in Classic had to raise their skill to 300. Blizzard lowered this threshold in Forever to skill level 295. That's why a mage tailor learns the pattern earlier than in Classic.

Why Do You Ask for My Ruleset?

The ruleset defines your character’s world. Each region (EU or US with Oceania) has one world without realms for every ruleset from Normal to Hardcore. Characters do not transfer between these worlds or factions. That's why the operator selects a team within your character’s world.

Do You Need Tailoring to Wear the Robe?

You can wear the robe even without the profession. Its tooltip requires the character to be a Mage and level 57. The mage needs the profession during the pattern and crafting stages. This allows you to switch to Alchemy or Enchanting without losing the item’s bonuses.

Robe of the Archmage Stats and Mana Use

The robe gives Mages spell power, crit, and mana through its Use effect. Its tooltip numbers in Forever have not changed since Classic. But Blizzard has combined spell and attack crit into a single stat in Forever. There are six main lines on the tooltip:

  • Intellect +12
  • Spell power +40
  • Crit +1% for spells and attacks
  • Use effect for 375-625 mana
  • ilvl 62
  • Character level 57

The Use effect restores up to 625 mana once every 5 minutes. We recommend using it during long fights in Onyxia's Lair and Hyjal Summit, along with Evocation and a mana potion. This mana reserve prevents the mage from having unnecessary downtime between pulls.

Robe of the Archmage Pattern for Tailors

The pattern teaches a tailor to craft a BoP robe. This robe stays with the character who crafted it. That's why your character must have Tailoring and this pattern in their recipe book to craft it. You can craft it yourself or have our pilot do it for you.

The robe recipe in Forever requires Bolt of Runecloth, Rune Thread, and essences of the four elements. Blizzard has reduced the quantity of each essence in the recipe from ten to eight. But the Forever recipe also requires an additional ten Viridian Dye. Our team will deliver a full set of reagents to your character with the materials option. You won’t have to farm essences or Runecloth in the open world.
