Who Can Use Shard of the Scale?

Any level 60 character of any class can equip this trinket. Healers and casters in raids benefit the most from it. Its mana regeneration works in every fight, from trash mobs to bosses. Your character will pick up the trinket during the raid with our team due to the BoP binding.

What Level Do You Need for Shard of the Scale?

The trinket requires a level 60 character, just like the Onyxia's Lair raid. This level matches the level cap in this version of the game. Blizzard does not sell paid level boosts or WoW Tokens for gold in this version. That's why your character reaches the level cap through quests.

What Stats Does Shard of the Scale Have?

The trinket's effect in Classic restores 16 mana every 5 seconds without any button presses or cooldowns. It does not provide any main stats like Intellect or a healing bonus. This is an Epic trinket with an item level of 71 in Classic. Its Unique status limits your character to one such trinket.

Do I Need the Drakefire Amulet?

Your character needs Drakefire Amulet in their bag to enter the raid. You don't have to equip the amulet or take a neck slot for it. Each of the 40 players receives it from an Alliance or Horde NPC after the attunement quest chain. The game won't let a character without the amulet enter Onyxia's Lair.

Why Do You Need My Ruleset?

Each raid brings together players from the same faction and ruleset. The US region with Oceania and the EU region each have one shared world for every ruleset from Normal to Hardcore. There is no in-game character transfer between these worlds. That's why the operator assembles a team within your region, ruleset, and faction.

Do I Get a Legacy Point?

Your first kill of Onyxia gives your account one Legacy Point. The point goes into the shared Battle.net pool for all characters outside of Hardcore. Perks for Legacy Points give vendor discounts, faster flights, and profession bonuses. Subsequent kills of Onyxia on the same account do not give a new point.

Shard of the Scale Mana Trinket

The Onyxia trinket is a passive mana source for healers. It saves them mana potions in the 40-player Onyxia's Lair. The same savings apply in two other World of Warcraft Forever raids during long clears of Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps. You won't have to spend much gold on mana potions. The Classic version of this trinket has five main properties:

  • Drops from Onyxia
  • Mana regeneration for healers
  • Level 60 requirement
  • Binds when picked up
  • Epic quality

The 16 mp5 effect grants the healer 192 mana per minute. This regeneration works even while casting in Classic. The five-second rule pauses Spirit-based regeneration after each spell. This rule does not apply to mp5 from items like this trinket. That allows the healer to heal without unnecessary pauses to regenerate mana.

Onyxia Drops for Healers

Sapphiron Drape and Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire complemented the trinket in Onyxia's classic loot for healers. The cloak in the back slot gives +17 Intellect and +14 to healing and spell damage. Resistance to Frost and Arcane magic comes as a bonus. The grimoire in the off-hand slot offers a different set of +15 Intellect and +11 Spirit. A healer can collect a trinket, a cloak, and an off-hand item from a single boss this way.

The trinket had an 8% drop rate in Classic versus 25% for the cloak and the grimoire. That's why we sell the trinket on a per-attempt basis with no drop guarantee. This format suits players who want to buy Shard of the Scale without a raid guild of their own.

This trinket appears in classic PvP BiS lists for Holy Priests and Restoration Druids. We consider the Priest to be the main contender for it in a 40-player raid. The Priest heals nonstop there and doesn't have time to regenerate mana through Spirit. That's why the trinket helps them maintain their mana pool longer. The Restoration Druid also receives benefits from the mp5 during the long 13-boss clear of Hyjal Summit.

Holy Paladins and Restoration Shamans are on the same Classic BiS lists. Shamans spend more mana on healing than Paladins. That's why we recommend this trinket for Shamans in any raid. Paladins will receive benefits from it in long fights and in PvP, where mana tends to run out.
