Skullflame Shield Changes From WoW Classic
Blizzard has buffed the shield along with the rest of the world epics in Forever. The developers showcased the new version of the item on a BlizzCon Deep Dive slide, where the main change was health steal upon taking a hit. Its original version from WoW Classic gave the tank the following stats:
- Its armor was 2,256 with a block value of 40.
- It added +10 to both Fire Resistance and Shadow Resistance.
- The 35 health steal triggered with a 3% chance upon taking a hit.
- Its Fire proc for 75-126 damage affected all nearby targets with a 1% chance.
The Forever version steals 275 health per proc instead of 35 in Classic. It triggers in response to the same enemy attacks on the tank. This gives you more health reserves in long fights. We consider this change to be the main reason to order the shield.
Where Does Skullflame Shield Drop
The shield drops as world drop loot from level 50-60 mobs. This epic item does not have its own boss in any dungeon or raid. Its drop rate in Classic was very low for any mob. Blizzard has also reduced the experience from mobs in Forever dungeons. We expect that players at levels 50-60 will farm these dungeons less and lose the chance to find this epic item on their own due to this change.
Life Steal Shield for Tanks and Hybrids
Three classes can wear this epic item in Forever: Warrior, Paladin, and Shaman. Blizzard has added Dwarf Shaman and Undead Paladin to the game. That's why both hybrid classes are available to both the Alliance and the Horde. You place your order for your character’s faction.
A tank holds aggro on three to four mobs at once in Forever. Each of their attacks gives the shield a new chance to steal health. We see this as the main advantage of this item for tanks. Solo farming also benefits from this effect, because a typical mob in Forever dies in about 10-15 seconds and manages to attack you several times. You’ll need fewer breaks to eat between mobs.
