Stonerender Gauntlets Rework for Hybrids
Stonerender in Forever is a mail epic for hybrids with Strength and spell damage. This epic enhances a hybrid’s performance in both melee and spellcasting. The version from WoW Classic gave +20 Spirit and +10 Nature Resistance. These stats didn’t add damage for any mail spec. Blizzard showcased the gauntlets’ rework during the Deep Dive panel at BlizzCon.
The gauntlets’ tooltip in Forever displays six values:
- Item Level 51
- Requires Level 46
- Strength +20
- Stamina +11
- Intellect +7
- Spell damage and healing up to +9
Spirit and Nature Resistance are gone from the gloves. The armor rating of 209 and the BoE bind type are the same as in Classic. Blizzard has replaced the two old stats with Strength for melee and a bonus to spell damage and healing. This allows hybrids to deal more damage from level 46.
Which Mobs Drop Stonerender Gauntlets
These gloves are a BoE world drop with no specific boss. They drop from regular mobs around levels 42-52, both in the open world and in dungeons with enemies of that level. The drop chance from a single mob was a few hundredths of a percent in Classic. A player on our team hands you this ready-made epic item. You won’t have to spend leveling evenings farming for a drop with such a low chance.
Mail Gloves for Enhancement and Retribution
Enhancement Shamans and Retribution Paladins need mail gloves with Strength and spell damage. Strength increases their attack power for melee weapon strikes. Spell damage boosts the Shaman’s shocks and the Paladin’s seals. So both stats work toward a hybrid’s damage in a single hand slot. A Retribution Paladin also gets spell damage from the Intellect on the gloves via the Champion of the Light talent in the Retribution tree.
We believe Blizzard creates these items for hybrids because they want to see all 27 Forever specs in dungeons and raids. The same approach has given casters’ and hybrids’ weapons both spell damage and healing. Even Bonus Healing now contributes one-third of its value as Bonus Damage. Master Hunter's Spellsword from the Hemet Nesingwary quest chain also provides +12 Strength and +14 spell power. That’s why hybrids can build gear for their spec even while they level.
