Monkey Run Boosting Guide in WoW MoP Classic
Let’s take a quick gameplay tour of how our boosters execute the Monkey Run in World of Warcraft MoP Classic. The term “Monkey Run” comes from a specific strategy in the Stormstout Brewery dungeon, where a room full of drunken hozen (monkeys) can be exploited for insane experience gains. In Mists of Pandaria Classic, this method is king for leveling efficiency. To give you an insider’s look, here’s a Monkey Run boosting guide showing what happens during the boost (don’t try this at home unless you’re as geared and skilled as our team!):
- Dungeon Entry & Setup: Our team (usually a tank and AoE DPS specialists) enters Stormstout Brewery in the Valley of the Four Winds. Your character is either piloted by us or present in the party for XP. We make sure to have any XP buffs active and prepare for a big pull.
- Pulling the Monkey Packs: We swiftly skip the initial trivial mobs and head straight to the first large room packed with monkeys (hozen). Using careful aggro techniques, the booster pulls every monkey in the room – including those hanging from kegs and rafters. This results in a massive train of angry hozen chasing the booster!
- Mass AoE Carnage: Once all monkeys are gathered, our booster unleashes powerful area-of-effect attacks to wipe them out in one go. Dozens of monkeys get taken down within seconds. This yields an explosion of XP – often around 1,000,000 XP per pull. We make sure none escape (stunning any that try to flee) so you get full experience from every mob.
- Optional Boss Kill: After ~40 monkeys die, the first boss Ook-Ook (a big hozen boss) spawns. If it’s efficient, we’ll quickly kill Ook-Ook using the handy rolling barrels in the room (each barrel hit boosts damage on him, making the fight quick). Defeating Ook-Ook gives an extra 300k+ XP and a chance at loot. If boss kill would slow things down, we may skip him – our priority is maximizing XP per hour for you.
- Reset and Repeat: As soon as the monkeys (and boss, if killed) are down, we exit the dungeon, reset the instance, and jump right back in. Thanks to instance reset limits, we can do up to 10 runs per hour – perfectly aligning with the game’s lockout cap. Each run takes only a few minutes when done by experts, so we hit that cap easily.
- Pet Battle XP (Bonus): Here’s a pro trick our boosters can use – during the short downtime after hitting the hourly dungeon limit, we engage in pet battles near the dungeon. There are critter and aquatic pets around Stormstout Brewery that grant ~80,000+ XP per fight. By quickly winning a few pet battles, we squeeze in additional XP while waiting for the next dungeon reset. This pushes the overall rate to the absolute maximum (~10 million XP/hour) and ensures no time is wasted.
