• Coins: Selling crops, products and other goods in your Roadside Shop or completing orders adds coins to your wallet so you can buy new machines, decorations or more supplies.
• Level Progression: The more tasks you complete and trades you make, the more XP you gain – and the more you level up. New levels unlock crops, animals and production buildings (like the Cake Oven or Sushi Bar) to add to your farm.
• Machine & Feature Unlocks: Hitting certain levels (thanks to sourced XP) unlocks new machines and features. For example, reaching a new level might allow you to buy the Sandwich Bar or open the Township if you haven’t already.

(Similarly puzzle pieces can only help once you’ve unlocked the Sanctuary to use them.)
• Stable Internet & Coordination: During the delivery you’ll need a reliable internet connection and be able to coordinate via in-game chat or our instructions. Every Hay Day farmer has their own tricks to get items. If you’ve been playing for a while, you know it can sometimes feel like the game has a mind of its own when it comes to item drops. Here are the main ways to get what you need through normal gameplay:

• Harvesting Crops (“Wheating”): One popular method is to mass-plant wheat and harvest it constantly (fondly nicknamed wheating). Crops, especially fast-growing ones like wheat, have a small chance to drop bonus items (expansion or upgrade materials) when harvested. It’s not guaranteed, but over dozens of harvests you’ll see nails, screws or other goodies pop out of your fields.
• Feeding Animals: Collecting products from animals can trigger item drops too. Every time you collect milk from cows, bacon from pigs or eggs from chickens, there’s a chance an upgrade item will drop alongside the goods. So keeping your animals fed not only gives you dairy and bacon, it might net you an extra bolt or wood panel now and then.
• Completing Orders: Filling truck orders and boat crates is a double win: you get coins and XP and occasionally you’ll receive vouchers or expansion items as a bonus. Boat orders in particular can drop puzzle pieces during special boat events and completing all crates can yield expansion materials. Serving town visitors (once you have the Town unlocked) often rewards you with random expansion pieces after you fully serve a visitor’s requests.
• Treasure Chests & Mystery Boxes: Keep an eye out for red toolboxes (mystery boxes) on your farm and other farms and treasure chests in the Fishing Lake or Town. These can contain random items from expansion parts to diamonds. You might need a key (or a bit of luck) to open some but it’s always worth tapping them when you see them.
• Events and Derby Rewards: Regular events sometimes have reward thresholds that include valuable supplies (for example, a global truck delivery event might give expansion materials at certain points). If you’re in a Neighborhood the Derby is a treasure trove for boosters – finishing tasks and placing in the Derby leagues often lets you pick expansion pieces, barn tools or other goodies as prizes.
• The Daily Dirt (Newspaper): Never underestimate the power of shopping! The Daily Dirt (newspaper) is where players put their excess goods up for sale. You can flip through it to snag cheap goods other farmers are selling. It’s competitive – sometimes you’ll tap an ad for bolts and they’re already gone – but if you check frequently, you can score the supplies you need. (Pro tip: refresh the paper often and check at odd times to find less-contested deals.)
• Hiring Tom: Tom is the friendly errand boy you can hire with diamonds. When active, he’ll nap on your farm until you wake him and ask for a specific item. He’ll then run off and return with that part (usually in bulk). If you have diamonds to spare, Tom can fetch you expansion materials, rare ores or any product you need every few hours. It’s a handy way to target particular components, though his services are time-limited and cost diamonds.
