Scarlet Key From the Library
Players receive the key to the Armory and Cathedral doors in the Library. This is the second wing of the Scarlet Monastery after the Graveyard. Our booster will pilot your character through it in a short run. You'll receive your copy from Doan's Strongbox. Arcanist Doan guards this chest at the far end of the wing, where the group arrives after the fight with Houndmaster Loksey.
The Alliance also needs Doan for the new quest Past Due. This quest requires the book The Lost Magic of the Runemasters, which the mage never returned to the Dalaran library. Alliance players can specify Past Due in their order notes. You can pick up the book on the same run this way.
The game does not let you transfer the key to an alt. We recommend ordering a boost on the character that will accompany the group to the Armory to fight Herod or to the Cathedral to face Scarlet Commander Mograine.
Scarlet Monastery Armory and Cathedral Doors
The two doors in the monastery's main hall lead to the Armory and the Cathedral. World of Warcraft Forever has preserved all four wings of the Scarlet Monastery as separate dungeons with their own entrances. Blizzard has limited party sizes to five players in these dungeons (up to ten in Classic). Each wing has its own level range:
- Graveyard - levels 30-38
- Library - levels 33-41
- Armory - levels 36-44
- Cathedral - levels 38-46
The Experienced Spelunker Legacy Challenge requires all four wings. A party without access to the Armory and Cathedral will not be able to complete it and will not receive the Legacy Point for the entire account. The key allows you to complete this part of the challenge.
Herod in the Armory drops the Ravager two-handed axe with an item level of 42. Blizzard has reworked this axe's effect for Forever. We consider Ravager the main reason to unlock Herod's wing for Warriors and Paladins who level in the Scarlet Monastery.
Rogue Lockpicking vs the Key
A Rogue with Lockpicking 175 can unlock the doors to the Armory and the Cathedral without a key. His group can get into both wings without a run through the Library. That's why groups without a Rogue will need the key. It's also useful for alts who want to enter both wings with any group. Your character with the key isn't dependent on the group composition.
