How to Get to Upper Blackrock Spire?

Upper Blackrock Spire sits inside Blackrock Mountain on the border of Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes. Players enter through the shared dungeon portal on the eastern side of the mountain. The door to UBRS is the first one on the left in Lower Blackrock Spire. UBRS key (the Seal of Ascension ring) opens this door.

What Level Is Upper Blackrock Spire?

Upper Blackrock Spire suits level 59–60 characters. Forever maintains a level cap of 60 without scaling bosses to match your character's level. Blizzard has also reduced the experience from dungeon mobs. That's why players level up through quests and come to UBRS for BoP loot and Onyxia attunement steps.

How Long Does It Take to Clear Upper Blackrock Spire?

A full clear of UBRS takes an experienced group about 1.5–2 hours. You'll coordinate the start time with the operator when you book. Our team does a separate run for each attempt at a named item. You won't have to search for a group of ten players in chat.

What Do I Specify in the Order?

Specify your region, ruleset (from Normal to Hardcore), and character's faction in your order. Blizzard maintains one world per ruleset in the US (with Oceania) and in the EU. Characters cannot transfer between these worlds or factions. That's why operators will assemble a team for your region and faction.

Does UBRS Count for Master Spelunker?

Upper Blackrock Spire counts toward Master Spelunker after you kill General Drakkisath. This Legacy challenge grants one Legacy point for the entire account. Both the full run and the Drakkisath run earn you this credit. The Rend run ends before the fights with The Beast and the final boss.

UBRS Key and Group Size in Forever

The Seal of Ascension ring serves as the key to Upper Blackrock Spire. Vaelan gives it to the player at the end of a quest chain. This chain requires three gemstones from Lower Blackrock Spire. Another step in the chain is a fight with the dragon Emberstrife in Dustwallow Marsh.

One such ring unlocks the UBRS door for the entire group. World of Warcraft Forever limits this group to ten players. ChaosBoost sells the key as a separate product in the Attunements section. This allows you to unlock UBRS with your ring without having to find a player who has the key.

General Drakkisath and Rend Blackhand in UBRS

Players receive named items and Onyxia attunement steps from two bosses. Rend appears in the Blackrock Stadium arena alongside the dragon Gyth. Drakkisath awaits in the throne room beyond the Halls of Ascension. The boss encounter with him completes the route through WoW Forever Upper Blackrock Spire. ChaosBoost offers five different order options for these bosses:

  • Full Run - Our team kills all seven UBRS bosses in a single run. Each boss gives a chance at loot, as does the rare Jed Runewatcher.
  • Rend Run - This option suits players who need a named weapon from Rend. The group stops at Blackrock Stadium midway through the route.
  • Drakkisath Run - The final fight against him gives a chance to obtain Blackblade of Shahram. Another goal of this fight is your class's Tier 0 chest piece.
  • Blood of the Black Dragon Champion - The blood from Drakkisath completes the Onyxia attunement for both factions. Its quest rewards Drakefire Amulet, which grants access to Onyxia's Lair for 40 players.
  • For the Horde! - Horde characters turn in Rend's head for this quest in Orgrimmar. The quest leads them to the next step in the Onyxia quest chain.

The Onyxia quest chain for the Horde includes both of these quests. For the Horde! comes before the Drakkisath blood quest in the chain. We recommend that Horde players order WoW Forever boost first for Rend and then for Drakkisath in the order of the quests in this Onyxia chain. That way each trip to UBRS completes the necessary step in the chain. Alliance characters will need one run through UBRS for Drakkisath.

UBRS Loot and Tier 0 Chest

Rend has a chance to drop a pair of swords: Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge and Dal'Rend's Tribal Guardian. Together they form the Dal'Rend's Arms set, which grants a +50 AP bonus for two pieces. This boss's loot also includes the Felstriker dagger and the Blackhand Doomsaw polearm. All of these weapons are BoP and never reach the auction house. That's why we recommend attempts at a named item if you need a specific piece from Rend.

Drakkisath gives a chance to obtain Blackblade of Shahram and a Tier 0 chest piece for any class. Shamans receive Vest of Elements from The Elements set in the chest slot, with bonuses for each piece from the second to the sixth. Rewards from the throne room are also BoP. Our team will defeat Drakkisath alongside your character on every attempt in the order. You won't have to spend your evenings on repeat clears of the throne room.
