WoW Forever Gold Farming Guide
WoW Forever gold is the main currency in World of Warcraft Forever. Every character earns this gold in-game from level 1, since there are no WoW Tokens or paid boosts in Forever. Players who would rather not start from empty bags get ready-made gold for their region in WoW Forever US Gold and WoW Forever EU Gold. Your own farming income depends on your character's level and gathering professions, as well as auction house prices in your ruleset, region, and faction. Waylaid Crates yield another trade faction currency (Merchant's Favor) from the same farming activities.
How WoW Forever Gold Works
The World of Warcraft Forever gold economy started from scratch on November 4, 2026. All characters began at level 1 with empty bags because Blizzard did not carry over beta progress to the release. Coins enter the economy through quests, loot, and gathering professions, and then circulate among players via crafting and the auction house. The developers call riding training for 100 and 1,000 gold a gold sink that benefits the economy. They gave this assessment in an interview on September 18, 2026.
Two familiar Retail mechanics are missing from Forever: the WoW Token and paid character boosts. Blizzard has also banned GDKP-style raids. The leader of such a raid sells loot to players for gold and divides the proceeds among the entire group. Blizzard's developers announced the ban during a Q&A on September 17, 2026, for North America and Europe. These raids also displaced guilds.
Is There a WoW Token?
Blizzard has not added either the WoW Token or paid character boosts to WoW Forever. The company stated on September 14, 2026, that it has no plans to add them. That's why you cannot purchase Forever coins from Blizzard with real money or exchange them for Game Time for your subscription.
Forever itself is part of the WoW subscription (Subscription or Game Time). A player purchases a WoW Token on the Retail auction house with retail gold and converts it into 30 days of Game Time for their account. These days also work for Forever. So a player with a supply of coins in Retail can use them to pay for their Forever subscription as well. Forever currency comes from within the game itself, because retail gold does not enter Forever.
One Market per Ruleset
Players from the same ruleset, region, and faction share a common auction house, mail system, and groups in Forever. Four rulesets have replaced the realms here: Normal and PvP, as well as the roleplay rulesets Roleplay and Roleplay PvP (Blizzard has moved Hardcore into a separate ruleset). WoW Forever gold also does not leave your character's ruleset, region, or faction. Every other ruleset requires a new character from level 1 (an account can create characters of a single faction on the PvP ruleset). You should verify figures from other guides and videos against your own auction house, because each combination of region, ruleset, and faction has its own prices and stock levels.
How Much Gold Do You Need?
Most of your WoW Forever gold goes toward riding training for 100 and 1,000 gold. The trainer unlocks both ranks at levels 40 and 60. Spell and profession ranks, bags, and talent resets require small, ongoing expenses at every stage of leveling, from the starting zone all the way to the level 60 cap.
Budget for Riding Training
Blizzard incorporated the cost of a mount into the price of riding training and explained this decision in an interview on September 18, 2026. Players receive the first mount of each rank along with the skill for free.
| Purchase | Price | At Honored | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice Riding with the first mount | 100g | 90g | 40 |
| Another color variant of a racial mount | 20g | 18g | 40 |
| Journeyman Riding with the first epic mount | 1,000g | 900g | 60 |
| Another epic color variant | 200g | 180g | 60 |
Being Honored with your race's faction gives a 10% discount on both riding training and your race's mounts. Paladins and Warlocks receive a level 40 mount through a class quest instead of purchasing it from a trainer. Journeyman Riding remains the final speed upgrade because Blizzard has not added flying mounts to Forever.
The 1,000 gold for this rank makes the riding trainer your main expense on the way to level 60. Our Apprentice Riding & First Mount Boost unlocks the first rank at level 40 together with a racial mount of your choice. Journeyman Riding and an epic mount of your race come with the Epic Mount Boost at level 60. Funds for the trainer come in one of three ways: the booster farms them on your character, we provide them from our stock, or you pay for them yourself.
Other Gold Sinks
Riding training accounts for the largest expenses. You'll pay for five smaller costs again and again at class and profession trainers, as well as at tailors and merchants:
- Spell ranks. Class trainers sell new ranks of your spells at higher prices as your character levels up. Old ranks far below your level receive less benefit from Spell Damage and Spell Healing.
- Profession training. The trainer charges 10 copper for Apprentice and 5 silver for Journeyman. Expert (from level 20) costs 50 silver. Artisan costs 5 gold and is available at level 35.
- Bags. A 6-slot Linen Bag requires Tailoring 5. Tailors craft it from three Bolts of Linen Cloth and three Coarse Thread. The recipe for an 8-slot Red Linen Bag becomes available.
- Talent resets and Legacy. Each subsequent reset costs more than the previous one. That's why changing your build often depletes your coin supply.
- Gift of Galloping. Mister Graphed sells this buff for 150 gold. The buff increases riding speed by 10% for 15 days.
Best WoW Forever Gold Farm Spots
A profitable WoW Forever gold farm depends on your character's level and gathering professions.
Early Gold Before Level 20
Farming up to level 20 gives income from vendor loot, Linen Cloth, and hides. You sell gray items from humanoids and beasts to vendors for coins in every town and camp along your leveling path. Four spots provide an early WoW Forever gold farm for both factions:
- Razormane quilboars (6–10, Horde). Razormane quilboars inhabit the Razormane Grounds in Durotar and give Linen Cloth as early as level 6.
- Defias Trapper and Defias Smuggler (10–15, Alliance). These Defias stand near The Molsen Farm in Westfall and drop coins, Linen Cloth, and vendor loot. The quest The People's Militia requires kills of these same mobs.
- Southsea Brigand and Southsea Cannoneer (12–16, Horde). Southsea pirates hold The Merchant Coast south of Ratchet in The Barrens and give Linen Cloth. The quest Southsea Freebooters asks you to kill these same pirates.
- Skinning along the route. Stonetusk Boars in Elwynn Forest, Dire Mottled Boars in Durotar, and Greater Plainstriders in The Barrens give hides at low levels.
Skinning training costs 10 copper at the trainer. The skinner can again skin each mob a single time after the patch on October 1, 2026. Crocodiles, bears, and boars on the eastern shore of Loch Modan give level 17–20 characters hides for sale and for Waylaid Crates. The Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Textiles accepts Linen Cloth and Light Leather. That's why you trade part of your loot for Merchant's Favor.
Realistic Gold per Hour
The beta had a level cap of 20 and raised it to 30. That's why players measured hourly farming income for characters up to level 30 in Classic zones and Scarlet Monastery.
There are no beta stats for levels above 30, because no beta players leveled their characters beyond that cap. You can calculate the income from farming at these levels based on your auction house prices.
Where to Farm Silk Cloth
Silk Cloth drops from humanoids in Forever. The Lost Ones in the Swamp of Sorrows give this cloth on most kills. A level 60 character farms silk solo in the Graveyard and Library of Scarlet Monastery, along with green items to sell or disenchant.
Waylaid Crate: Journeyman Textiles accepts silk in the form of 40 Silk Cloth and Waylaid Crate: Journeyman Fabrics in the form of 10 Bolts of Silk Cloth.
Mithril and Mageweave Farms
Level 40–50 characters farm Mithril Ore in the Badlands and Searing Gorge. The cloth for these levels (Mageweave Cloth) drops from ogres in Tanaris and Feralas. Herbalists in the same range collect Goldthorn in Stranglethorn Vale. Vilebranch and Witherbark trolls in The Hinterlands provide cloth and vendor loot for the merchant with every visit to their camp. Blizzard has opened the new Riverglades zone in Forever.
Artisan profession training becomes available at level 35. That's why both crafters and Expert crates need Mithril Ore, Mageweave Cloth, and Goldthorn.
Endgame Gold at Level 60
A level 60 character runs a WoW Forever gold farm on materials that raid groups and crafters with skill 300 need. The six farms at this level differ in location and goods.
| Farm | Location | What to Sell |
|---|---|---|
| Thorium | Small Thorium on the walls of Un'Goro Crater, Rich Thorium in Winterspring and the Eastern Plaguelands | ore and bars, as well as Arcane Crystal and gems that are more valuable than the ore itself |
| Level 60 herbs | Winterspring, Plaguelands, Felwood | Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, and Icecap |
| Devilsaur Leather | Un'Goro Crater | leather (requires Skinning around 270 and a class capable of killing the elite mob) |
| Runecloth | ogres in Deadwind Pass and trolls in the Eastern Plaguelands | cloth from most kills |
| Felcloth | satyrs in Felwood and Azshara | Felcloth for crafters |
| Bats | Eastern Plaguelands | Rugged Leather for skinners |
Blizzard has scheduled the launch of the first raid tier for December 9, 2026. This tier includes Barrow Deeps for 10 players and Hyjal Summit for 20. Onyxia's Lair in this tier requires a 40-player raid.
Solo Dungeon Gold Runs
The Scepter of Celebras opens a portal for a group in Maraudon to Earth Song Falls, near Princess Theradras. Princess Theradras's weapon and the bosses along the way to her give vendor loot, which in Classic brought in around 9 gold per run. This WoW Forever gold farm is easiest for solo Hunters and Warlocks. Dire Maul East gives Felcloth from satyrs, Living Essence from elementals, and ore veins inside. The northern section (Dire Maul North) pays out a tribute chest for the king's death while the guards are still alive.
Dark Iron Ore veins outside of Molten Core spawn in Blackrock Depths and Searing Gorge. The trash in Blackrock Depths gives Runecloth on 40–50% of kills. The two sides of Stratholme yield different loot: Righteous Orbs for crafters on the live side. This dungeon requires a party of five players and gives Runecloth on every run.
Best Professions for Gold
WoW Forever gold making during the first weeks of the season relies on gathering professions, while most players have little money to buy items from crafters. Crafting starts to pay off later as buyers' funds grow. Blizzard has added over 600 new recipes to Forever. But many pieces of armor from reputation recipes are Bind on Pickup (BoP). That's why crafting makes money from consumables and bags, as well as from enchants and materials.
| Profession | What Sells | To Whom and When |
|---|---|---|
| Mining | ore and bars | crafters, Ore and Ingots crates |
| Herbalism | herbs | Alchemy, Cooking, and First Aid (healing potions), Herbs crates |
| Skinning | hides and Pristine Leather | Leatherworking, Textiles crates |
| Tailoring | bags and bolts of cloth | all players from the start, Fabrics crates |
| Alchemy | elixirs and flasks | raids; demand increases for December raids |
| Enchanting | enchants, dust, and shards | players with new gear, Curiosities crates |
| Cooking | food with Well Fed (+5% experience from kills) | players who level from day one |
We recommend keeping two gathering professions until you have a reserve of around 1,000 gold, and then switching to crafting. This reserve covers the cost of Journeyman Riding by level 60, when crafting customers start having money.
Gathering professions reach skill 300 on Thorium, level 60 herbs, and Rugged Leather in zones for levels 50–60. WoW Forever Mining Boost, WoW Forever Herbalism Boost, and WoW Forever Skinning Boost take a character who survives in these zones to skill 300, and the ore, herbs, and leather stay with you. A crafting profession starts again from skill 1 after the switch. The Profession Materials Kit covers this restart with materials for 1–150 or 1–300 and a crafting route. Our article on camping and workbench requirements covers profession workbenches and camp blueprints.
Scarce Materials Worth Keeping
Scarce materials drop in addition to regular loot when you gather. These materials come in three item levels in the 25–60 range. Each profession has its own names: Pyrite, Bauxite, and Pitchblende for Mining, Frilled Lichen and Rosecap for Herbalism, and Pristine Leather, Pristine Hide, and Pristine Scale for Skinning. The Legacy perk Bountiful Harvest at rank 5 increases the chance of finding Scarce materials by 100%.
Many new Forever patterns require Pristine Leather. Players outgrow the zones where these materials drop as their character levels up. That's why you keep Scarce materials on an alt and sell them later.
Vendor Shuffles No Longer Work
The October 1 patch lowered the vendor price of crafted wands to 1 copper. An October 8 change set the price of the Lesser Magic Wand at 1s 10c. That same change lowered the price of the Greater Magic Wand to 2s versus 15s 35c in Classic. The October 15 build reduced the prices of many Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Leatherworking items. A Heavy Copper Maul yields 4s 66c instead of 5s 95c after this build.
The Tailoring and Enchanting chain from older videos is no longer profitable. Players used to sew Brown Linen Pants, disenchant them into dust, and sell Minor Wizard Oil from that dust to the vendor. The vendor now pays 1s for this oil. That's why you sell your crafted items to players on your ruleset's auction house, where bags, wands, and consumables cost more than the merchant's price.
Legacy Perks for Gold
Players receive Legacy points for completing 65 trials toward a shared account balance (except Hardcore). They choose perks for WoW Forever gold making from the Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness trees based on their character's role, since a character spends up to 16 points at the start. Five Legacy perks affect income:
- Bountiful Harvest. This perk scales up to rank 5 and at that rank increases the chance to find Scarce materials with Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning by 100%.
- Bartering. Two ranks give a discount of up to 10% on goods from all merchants.
- Luremaster. A fisherman with an active lure has a 50% chance to catch an extra fish with each cast.
- Master Chef. Every Cooking craft has a 30% chance to give an extra portion of food.
- Performance Bonus. A trade faction has up to a 15% chance to pay double the Merchant's Favor for a crate.
How to Get Merchant's Favor
A character receives WoW Forever Merchant's Favor by filling and turning in Waylaid Crates to a trade faction. Both trade factions came to Forever from Season of Discovery: the Azeroth Commerce Authority for the Alliance and Durotar Supply and Logistics for the Horde. A standard Waylaid Crate drops from mobs at level 10 and above. Reading the label transforms the crate into one of 30 types of shipments for a single set of materials.
Merchant's Favor is a separate currency that is not exchangeable for coins. But Waylaid Crates create demand for raw materials and crafting. That's why farming yields both coins from selling materials at the auction house and Merchant's Favor from the crates you turn in to the trade faction.
Waylaid Crate Tiers and Rewards
Textiles, Herbs, and Ore crates (along with Curiosities) accept raw materials from mobs, gathering nodes, and disenchanting. The trade faction pays more Favor for crafted goods in Ingots, Fabrics, and Parts crates than for raw materials of the same tier.
| Tier | Level | Favor: Raw Materials / Crafting | Ore Set | Textiles Set |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 10 | 5 / 10 | 20 Copper Ore or 20 Tin Ore | 40 Linen Cloth or 20 Light Leather |
| Journeyman | 10 | 10 / 20 | 20 Iron Ore or 10 Silver Ore | 40 Silk Cloth, 20 Wool Cloth, or 20 Medium Leather |
| Expert | 20 | 15 / 30 | 20 Mithril Ore or 10 Gold Ore | 40 Mageweave Cloth or 20 Heavy Leather |
Artisan crates are available from level 35. This crate type requires 20 Thorium Ore or 40 Runecloth, among other sets with Dark Iron Ore, Truesilver Ore, and Rugged Leather. Curiosities crates accept Enchanting materials (this is 20 Strange Dust at the Apprentice tier). The first turn-in on each character triggers the Shipping Label quest, which rewards 50 Favor and 2,000 reputation with the trade faction. Performance Bonus doubles the Favor for each turn-in with a chance of up to 15%.
Cheapest Way to Farm Favor
You calculate the price per unit of Favor with the formula (crate price + price of the cheapest set – coins per turn-in) / Favor per crate. An example route is a green Journeyman Parts crate with four Bronze Frameworks. The Bronze Framework recipe requires Engineering 145 and gives two parts per craft. Its reagents are two Bronze Bars, one Medium Leather, and one Wool Cloth. This crate yielded 20 Favor in the beta each time you turned it in to the trade faction at the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics camp.
The Performance Bonus reduces the 300 turn-ins for the Pack Kodo to 261 on average. Our team fills and turns in the crates on your character as part of the WoW Forever Merchant's Favor Farm Boost, which includes the option to gain reputation with the trade faction. You won't have to spend weeks farming 6,000 Favor for the Pack Kodo or making hundreds of turn-ins.
Where to Turn In Waylaid Crates
Alliance players turn in crates to Marcy Baker at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp in the Three Corners area of the Redridge Mountains. Type /way 9.6 70.9 in chat to find her. You can purchase the remaining materials for the incomplete set at the auction house from Auctioneer Quickcoin near the camp (type /way 9.7 72.0 in chat). Huey Sunnydale sells Reins of the Pack Kodo at the same location (type /way 8.5 72.1 in chat).
Horde players turn in crates to Dokimi at the Durotar Supply and Logistics camp west of Crossroads in The Barrens. Okamache sells the kodo for the Horde at the same camp. A crate with a set of materials turns into a character-bound Sealed Crate. That's why you should stockpile the crates in your bags and turn them in as a batch when your leveling route passes by your faction's camp.
What Merchant's Favor Buys
Trade factions sell 324 rewards for Favor:
- Recipes. The prices of 310 recipes range from 30 to 360 Favor. These include Patterns, Plans, and Formulas, as well as Schematics and Recipes. The lowest price of 30 Favor applies to 105 recipes, including Pattern: Brawler's Leather Legguards and Plans: Veteran's Silvered Chain Helm. We've dedicated articles to both of these recipes: Brawler's Leather Legguards and Veteran's Silvered Chain Helm.
- Profession certificates. Six certificates like the Alchemy Certification cost 1,000 Favor each. Every certificate requires skill 300 and unlocks the profession title for all characters on the account.
- Advertising License Application. This application costs 1,200 Favor at Honored and triggers a quest for the toy Dwarven Tradeskill Sign or Orcish Tradeskill Sign.
- Packmule Treat. You receive the Minimule pet for 1,500 Favor at Revered.
- Faction tabard. Reaching Exalted reputation unlocks the purchase of a tabard for 200 Favor.
- Reins of the Pack Kodo. The mount costs 6,000 Favor and requires Exalted reputation, level 60, and Journeyman Riding. This kodo is Bind on Pickup (BoP) and unlocks for the entire account.
Craftsman's Writs (craft delivery orders) and the Forged Delivery Receipt give reputation. This document costs 15 Favor and turns an empty crate into +50 reputation. Both the tabard and the kodo require Exalted, and this standing takes a series of play sessions. Our booster collects this reputation on your character with writs, receipts, and the Shipping Label quest. Alliance players order the WoW Forever Azeroth Commerce Authority Reputation Boost, and Horde players order the WoW Forever Durotar Supply and Logistics Reputation Boost.
The kodo also costs 6,000 Favor, which equals 300 turn-ins of green Journeyman crates. A level 60 character with Journeyman Riding gets this mount through the Pack Kodo Mount Boost, either together with the reputation or with the Favor alone.
WoW Forever Auction House Tips
Each combination of ruleset, region, and faction shares a single common WoW Forever auction house among all its players. That's why the market in Forever is large. Flippers snap up lots with a big undercut here and then resell them at the auction's standard price. Five rules help with WoW Forever gold making in such a market:
- Sell what most players need: bags, wands, and raw materials for the levels where there are the most players. A Lesser Magic Wand sells to players for more than its price at the vendor (1s 10c).
- Set short auction durations, because the deposit increases with the duration.
- List flasks, potions, and food before raid nights.
- Undercut your competitors' prices by a small amount.
- Have your bank alt near the auction house and mailbox list items while your main character is leveling.
We recommend keeping your main capital on your bank alt. A single extra click can lead to a pricing error on an expensive lot. Capital on your bank alt is safe from such clicks while your main character trades on the go between quests and dungeons.
Auction House Fees and Deposits
Faction auction houses take 5% of the sale price versus 15% at neutral auction houses in goblin cities. The deposit depends on the item's price at the vendor and the duration of the listing. Forever returns the deposit after a sale and keeps it if the item remains unsold. That's why every unsold lot costs the seller the amount of the deposit. You should sell a stack with a small difference between the auction price and the merchant's price to the merchant, because the commission and the risk of the deposit will take that difference.
Black Market Auction House
The Black Market Auction House stands in the goblin outpost Powderfuse Port in Riverglades. Type /way 78.1 51.9 in chat, because this auction house isn't available at Farholde Keep. Madam Swyndle runs auctions there for Dungeon Set 1 items, pets, and tabards, with a starting bid of 100 gold per lot. Dungeon Set 1 items in Forever differ from their Classic versions.
Mister Graphed sells rare reagents there from 20 gold at a fixed price with no purchase limit. Among them are the new Fel Crystal and Stranglevine. Players consider Mister Graphed's prices to be the ceiling for the auction. That's why you should list your copies of these reagents on your faction's auction house for a small amount less than his price at Powderfuse Port.
Common Gold Making Mistakes
Players lose part of their income from WoW Forever gold making due to five common mistakes:
- Blue BoEs to a vendor. Selling this way means giving the item away at the vendor's price.
- Leveling gear from the auction house. Quests replace these items after a few levels. The money for them never comes back. These coins will come in handy for a level-40 character to purchase Apprentice Riding for 100 gold.
- Add-on prices for reagents from merchants. Merchants sell thread, vials, and flux in unlimited stock. That's why you count these reagents at the merchant's price, not at the price your add-on shows.
- A stash on an alt with a different ruleset or faction. Mail and trading do not transfer this money to the main character. This stash does not cover the main's expenses on mounts and crafting.
- Crafting items to sell to a vendor. Blizzard reduced the vendor sell price of many crafted items. List them on your ruleset's auction house instead.
Gold Farming on Your Character
The WoW Forever gold store offers five delivery methods for WoW Forever US Gold and WoW Forever EU Gold products across the two regions. You choose your ruleset, faction, and amount (from 100 to 5,000 gold) in the options. Delivery occurs via one of the following methods:
- Face-to-face trade. Our character transfers the gold to yours via the in-game trade window.
- Mail. The message requires your character's full name, including the last name.
- Auction house. The transaction takes place via an auction listing on the auction house for your ruleset and faction.
- Guild bank. The transfer goes through your character's guild bank.
- Farming on your character. Our team earns the entire amount in-game on your character.
The fifth method brings the entire amount from the game world without transferring money between characters of different players. It suits clients who put account safety ahead of speed. Farming on your character takes longer than trading or mail. Our team gains access to your account for this type of farming.
WoW Forever Gold Farming FAQ
Is gold farming illegal in WoW Forever?
Farming gold yourself does not violate Blizzard's rules. Gathering, crafting, and trading on the auction house are also standard in-game ways to earn gold. Blizzard acts against bots, not against players who farm by hand. Spots, professions, and Waylaid Crates are legitimate sources of income for every player.
What is the best class for farming gold?
The best class depends on the farming method. Mages clear humanoid camps faster than other classes. Their Improved Blizzard in Forever is weaker and slows mobs by 40% instead of 65%. Hunters and Warlocks can solo dungeons like Maraudon. Rogues and Druids in stealth bypass groups of mobs on their way to chests and ore veins in dungeons and the open world.
Can you sell Waylaid Crates on the AH?
The auction house accepts both regular Waylaid Crates and labeled Waylaid Crates. Forever does not bind either type of crate to a character and stacks regular crates up to 20, versus 5 for labeled crates. You cannot list owner-bound Sealed Crates on the auction house.
Is Merchant's Favor shared between characters?
Merchant's Favor accumulates in its own balance on each character. The game does not maintain a shared account-wide total. Players on Reddit and the Blizzard forums have requested that this currency be account-wide. Some rewards for it still work for the entire account: Reins of the Pack Kodo and titles from profession certificates.
Should you sell ore or bars?
Ingots crates accept bars (this is 20 Copper Bars at the Apprentice tier). A trade faction pays more Merchant's Favor for a crafted Ingots crate than for an Ore crate with raw ore of the same tier. That's why you should save smelting for farming Favor.
Does Bartering lower riding training costs?
Bartering does not reduce the cost of riding training for 100 or 1,000 gold. The October 15, 2026, build removed the perk's effect on training and repairs. This two-rank perk gives up to a 10% discount on mounts from merchants. A racial mount's color variant with Honored and Bartering costs 16 gold, versus 160 gold for an epic mount of the same race.
How do you send gold to an alt?
Mail and trade transfer money to an alt within the same region, ruleset, and faction. A letter requires the character's full, two-part name. An alt on a different ruleset, in a different region, or in a different faction will not get this money via mail or trade. A Temporary Economy Hold restricts both mail and trade for the account during a review.
