WoW Forever Professions and Bonuses
Out of the 12 WoW Forever professions, a character can have two primary ones and all secondary ones, because secondary professions don't take any slots. WoW Forever profession bonuses come from camp objects, crafted items, and Legacy perks, since there are no passives from later expansions in the game. Without passives, you choose a pair that suits your goals and class, decide whether you need Fishing, and calculate the cost of leveling up (most of which consists of crafting materials). With the WoW Forever Profession Boost, our team will level any of the 12 professions or Lockpicking to 300 on your character and leave you with all the resources you've gathered along the way.
WoW Forever Professions List
The WoW Forever profession list mirrors the Classic set of 12 professions. Of these, nine are primary and three are secondary. Each profession gathers or crafts its own type of items:
| Profession | Type | What it gathers or crafts |
|---|---|---|
| Herbalism | Gathering | Herbs |
| Mining | Gathering | Ore, bars, gems |
| Skinning | Gathering | Leather, hides, scales |
| Alchemy | Crafting | Potions, elixirs, flasks |
| Blacksmithing | Crafting | Weapons, mail, plate armor |
| Enchanting | Crafting and disenchanting | Enchantments, wands, relics |
| Engineering | Crafting | Gadgets, bombs, scopes |
| Leatherworking | Crafting | Leather armor, mail, armor kits |
| Tailoring | Crafting | Cloth armor, bags, reagent bags |
| Cooking | Secondary | Food and campfires |
| First Aid | Secondary | Bandages, Healing Potions |
| Fishing | Secondary | Fish |
Since professions aren't listed in the spellbook, you can open their window by pressing the K key. Crafting professions depend on raw materials from gathering, disenchanting for Enchanting, and cloth from humanoids for Tailoring.
How Many Professions Can You Have?
A character in the game can learn two primary World of Warcraft Forever professions and all secondary ones, up to a total of five. Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing are available to everyone, since they don't take a slot. You'll take up a third primary profession when you unlearn one of your current ones.
Rockslicer (a two-handed axe obtained from Rhahk'Zor in The Deadmines) allows you to mine ore without a third profession slot. Its effect breaks open Copper and Tin veins without the Mining skill. It also works on Silver and Iron veins, but lasts for 30 charges.
Is There Jewelcrafting in Forever?
There is no WoW Forever jewelcrafting in the game. The developers didn't add Inscription either, because they kept the 12 Classic professions. Enchanting Vellum is missing from the game too. A player suggested a vellum recipe for Leatherworking in the ideas thread on the Blizzard forums in October 2026.
Jewelry work is split between Mining and Enchanting. Mining extracts gems. Enchanting has received new enchantments that apply to the neck slot. These include Strength, Spell Power, and Healing Power for melee, casters, and healers.
How to Unlearn a Profession
The game allows you to unlearn a primary profession, but does not let you remove secondary ones. Unlearning resets the skill level and erases all recipes, after which you must level up the profession again starting at skill level 1. It takes four steps to reach the unlearn button:
- Open the professions window by pressing the K key.
- On the first tab (with the hammer and pickaxe), choose your profession.
- Click the red X next to the skill bar.
- Enter the word the game requests in the confirmation window and confirm your choice. You can change the Engineering branch (Gnomish or Goblin) the same way, losing any recipes you've found or purchased.
It's best not to unlearn a profession with rare recipes, since you'll have to acquire them all over again after unlearning.
WoW Forever Profession Changes
In World of Warcraft Forever, professions are leveled from 1 to 300 through ranks with trainers, just like in Classic. The developers revealed the main changes during the Deep Dive on September 13, 2026. There, they announced over 600 new recipes across all skill ranges.
The game has also changed five crafting mechanics:
- Crafting menu - all crafts and gathering professions now have one, featuring search, filters, and recipe tracking in the quest log. A single icon sends a profession link to chat.
- Separate reagent bag slot - from the start of the game, it contains a four-slot gathering bag. The Linen Reagent Bag from Tailoring holds six.
- Starting zone quest - this quest offers a choice of the books Mining for Dummies, Wild Harvest, or Pelt Collecting for Beginners. The book teaches the gathering profession and gives you a bonus of 2 skill points.
- Healing Potions - these potions have been moved from Alchemy to First Aid.
- Camp objects - each profession has three of them.
The WoW Forever profession changes also affected gathering, which now yields Scarce materials for special recipes. Mining has gotten new bars as well: the Azerothium Bar and the Heavy Thorium Bar. Tailors, on the other hand, need a wider variety of recipes because most of them in Tailoring become grayed out 25–45 points earlier than in Classic Era.
New Recipes and Notable Crafts
Leatherworking and Blacksmithing received the most WoW Forever profession recipes, while gathering has few new additions. Merchants sell some of the new recipes for Merchant's Favor:
| Profession | New Recipes (approx.) | For Merchant's Favor (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Leatherworking | 270 | 80 |
| Blacksmithing | 200 | 60 |
| Tailoring | 180 | 70 |
| Engineering | 80 | 30 |
| Alchemy | 70 | 30 |
| Enchanting | 70 | 40 |
| Cooking | 40 | 6 |
WoW Forever alchemy recipes include the throwable Caustic Smog Potion (skill 265, 180 Favor) with area-of-effect damage. The Dragonfire Potion (at skill 245 for 120 Favor) releases a cone of fire. Transmute: Legionite (at skill 275) creates Legionite from Heavy Thorium.
Instead of Healing Potions, the alchemist brews a Discolored Healing Potion. This potion heals on the spot and then returns 75% of the healing as poison or disease damage. To craft flasks, the alchemist needs an Alchemy Laboratory (a camp object at skill 300).
Where Recipes Come From
Characters receive ranks and basic recipes from trainers, but the Artisan rank of crafts is taught by special mentors. Trading factions sell recipes for 30–360 Merchant's Favor, and some of them require Friendly or Honored reputation. Each character has their own supply of Merchant's Favor, which is earned by turning in Waylaid Crates. Mentors and factions are located in different zones:
| NPC or Faction | Zone | Side | What They Give |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daryl Stack | Tarren Mill | Horde | Artisan Tailoring |
| Timothy Worthington | Theramore Isle | Alliance | Artisan Tailoring |
| Azeroth Commerce Authority | Three Corners | Alliance | Recipes for Favor |
| Durotar Supply and Logistics | Crossroads | Horde | Recipes for Favor |
Rare recipes for levels 54–60 drop from dungeon bosses and mobs. Plans: Heartseeker can be obtained from Cannon Master Willey in Stratholme. BoE and Blueprint recipes can be purchased on the auction house instead of farming them.
Profession Specializations in Forever
WoW Forever profession specializations are available for Engineering, Blacksmithing, and Leatherworking. At skill level 200, an engineer completes a quest chain and chooses either the Gnomish or Goblin specialization. The Goblin specialization focuses on explosives and the Dimensional Ripper - Everlook. Gnomish Engineering creates devices such as the World Enlarger and the Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan. You can switch specializations by unlearning your current one, after which you must level Engineering again.
A blacksmith chooses between Armorsmith and Weaponsmith. The Weaponsmith then has three branches: Master Axesmith, Master Swordsmith, and Master Hammersmith. A leatherworker chooses Dragonscale, Elemental, or Tribal at skill level 225. The Tribal branch, for example, produces the Wolfshead Helm at skill 225 and the Hide of the Wild at skill 300. At skill level 300, blacksmiths, leatherworkers, and tailors craft BoE Hyjal tier pieces (shoulders, gloves, legs, and boots) from Malleable Essence of Nature for themselves or for sale.
Do Professions Give Passive Bonuses?
WoW Forever profession bonuses do not include passives from later expansions. Mining does not give a passive bonus to Stamina or health, such as Toughness. Alchemy also lacks the Mixology bonus. Players on the Blizzard forums in October 2026 did not confirm rumors of a +5% health bonus from Mining and Blacksmithing buckles. They cited BlizzCon announcements, where Blizzard discussed new recipes.
Actual bonuses come from camp object buffs, crafted items, and crafting gear. Added to these are Legacy perks and the racial bonuses for Gnomes and Tauren. Since there are no WoW Forever profession passives, players choose a profession based on the items and camp buffs that best suit their role.
Camp Buffs by Profession
WoW Forever profession buffs are centered around a campfire, where (starting at skill level 20) each profession places an object that provides a buff or service. Players receive their first object from a starting zone quest or from a trainer. Buffs from different professions stack:
| Profession | Skill 20 Object | Max Buff | Does Not Stack with |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Aid | First Aid Kit | +56 Stamina | Power Word: Fortitude |
| Fishing | Fish Bowl | +8% to stats | Blessing of Kings |
| Alchemy | Mana Well | +29 mana every 5 seconds | Blessing of Wisdom |
| Blacksmithing | Sharpening Wheel | +34 Strength | Strength of Earth Totem |
| Enchanting | Enchanted Lute | Armor, +13 to stats, +22 to resistances | Mark of the Wild |
| Herbalism | Incense Candle | +25 Intellect | Arcane Intellect |
| Tailoring | Faction Banner | +32 Spirit for your faction | Divine Spirit |
| Skinning | Camp Chair | +2% crit | Moonkin Aura and Leader of the Pack |
| Mining | Lodestone | +90 melee Attack Power | Blessing of Might |
| Leatherworking | Camp Tent | Rested up to 5% of a level | - |
| Engineering | Reagent Bot | Sells reagents, buys junk | - |
| Cooking | Basic Campfire Kit (skill 1) | Campfire for three objects | - |
Anyone who sits or crafts near the campfire for 1 minute receives bonuses for an hour (one object per player with a shared cooldown of an hour). Objects at skill 140 and 300 are crafted using Blueprint recipes for camp workstations obtained from dungeon and raid bosses. This structure preserves the buff from the first object and adds a workstation or service. In the WoW Forever Camping Objects Unlock Boost, our team unlocks Tier 1 objects and the Basic Campfire Kit, then runs dungeons for the skill 140 Blueprint with your character. The class buff is stronger than the camp buff (Fish Bowl gives 8% vs. 10% for Blessing of Kings) and replaces it, so WoW Forever profession buffs come in handy for groups lacking the necessary class.
Exclusive Recipes and Gear Bonuses
The most notable WoW Forever profession perks are master-crafted items and gear with crafting bonuses:
- Enchanting - starting at skill level 1, an enchanter crafts the Novice's Practice Wand. Later, they create relics like the Tenets of the Silver Hand and the Revelation weapon enchantment.
- Leatherworking - a leatherworker enhances armor with two kits: the Forceful Rugged Armor Kit for physical damage and the Mystic Rugged Armor Kit for spellcasters.
- Engineering - the Satchel of Copper Bombs takes the thrown weapon slot, requires no ammunition, and deals area-of-effect damage.
- Blacksmithing - the bonus from a blacksmith's sharpening stones and weightstones stacks with poisons, elemental enchantments, and Windfury Totem. Blacksmiths can also attach spikes to shields and craft spurs for increased riding speed.
- Smelting Pants - leather pants obtained from Gilnid in The Deadmines reduce smelting time by 25%. This bonus works for Copper and Tin. The pants also speed up the smelting of Bronze and Silver by the same 25%.
Legacy perks give another layer of bonuses.
Legacy Profession Perks
Your character purchases WoW Forever profession perks from the Professions tree in Legacy using account-wide points and can spend up to 16 points (the limit for the current content phase). At the maximum rank, each perk gives its own bonus:
- Working Overtime - a +20% bonus to the skill-up chance in all professions.
- Dedicated Study - once every 23 hours, your lowest-level profession receives +1.
- Bountiful Harvest - gathering yields 100% more Scarce materials.
- Bartering - merchants' prices are 10% lower for you.
- Performance Bonus - there is a 15% chance that the Merchant's Favor reward will double.
- Master Chef and Luremaster - each gives a 50% chance of an extra dish and an extra fish with a lure.
With all five professions at 300, Dedicated Study gives Elemental Essence.
Gnome and Tauren Bonuses
The Gnome racial bonus (Engineering Specialization) reduces the chance that a gadget will malfunction or backfire on its owner. In Classic, this racial bonus increased the Engineering skill. A second racial bonus (Cultivation) allows Tauren to collect herbs without Herbalism and doubles the yield if the character knows Herbalism.
Best Profession Pairs by Goal
The best WoW Forever professions are chosen based on your goal, since professions do not provide passive bonuses. Five common goals require different combinations:
- Gold while leveling - Herbalism is paired with Mining or Skinning because, with these professions for gold, all collected resources are sold.
- Your own armor - plate armor is crafted by Blacksmithing paired with Mining. Leather and mail armor come from Leatherworking with Skinning. For cloth armor, Tailoring goes with Enchanting.
- Raid consumables - Alchemy uses herbs from Herbalism and brews flasks at the Alchemy Laboratory.
- PvP and Hardcore - Engineering paired with Mining gives gadgets for player-versus-player fights and escapes.
- Any character - Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing can be added to any pair without taking a slot.
I recommend choosing your armor's corresponding craft and a complementary gathering profession for your main character, because many leveling recipes are character-bound (BoP). Plans: Veteran's Silvered Chain Helm and Pattern: Brawler's Leather Legguards each cost 30 Favor, and both the recipes themselves and the items crafted from them are soulbound.
Best Professions for Each Class
A class's armor type and role suggest the best profession pair for it. Based on armor type, the nine classes are split among three profession pairs:
| Class | Profession Pair | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Mining and Blacksmithing | Plate armor, Strength bonus |
| Paladin | Mining and Blacksmithing | Plate armor, weapons, Strength buff |
| Hunter | Skinning and Leatherworking | Leather and mail |
| Rogue | Skinning and Leatherworking | Leather armor and armor kits |
| Priest | Tailoring and Enchanting | Cloth and enchants for casters |
| Shaman | Skinning and Leatherworking | Mail and kits for casters |
| Mage | Tailoring and Enchanting | Cloth armor and enchants |
| Warlock | Tailoring and Enchanting | Cloth and bags |
| Druid | Skinning and Leatherworking | Leather for any role |
Relics for Paladin, Druid, and Shaman are crafted by enchanters. Hunters can choose Engineering for scopes and guns. Rogues pick Herbalism for Swiftthistle and Thistle Tea.
Is Engineering Worth It in Forever?
WoW Forever engineering places service-providing objects in camps instead of providing a bonus (something no other profession does). These include the Reagent Bot, which sells reagents and buys junk, and the Repair Bot for repairing gear. Nets, gliders, and rocket boots work for all classes. Non-engineers can also throw Saf T Dynamite and Saf T Copper Bomb.
I believe Engineering pays off in PvP and on Hardcore servers, where dummies and escape tools are valued. As a source of gold, Engineering falls short of the two gathering professions because engineers trade income for devices. Gathering professions, on the other hand, sell everything they collect. For PvP and Hardcore, our team will level Engineering to 300 using the WoW Forever Engineering Boost. It's best to choose either the Goblin or Gnomish specialization once, because switching specializations wipes both found and purchased recipes.
Secondary Professions in Forever
Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing are available to any character and do not take up primary profession slots. All three reach 300 through the same ranks, but the Expert rank for First Aid and Cooking is learned from books. The First Aid book requires a skill level of 125 and costs 1 gold. Artisan is awarded for a quest, which for Fishing is called Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme and requires level 35 and a skill level of 225.
Each of the three professions gives its own benefits:
- Cooking - sets up a campfire for the camp and prepares food with an experience bonus.
- First Aid - now brews Healing Potions.
- Fishing - provides fish for Cooking recipes.
It's beneficial to level up Fishing and Cooking together.
Cooking and First Aid Changes
The Cooking trainer teaches Basic Campfire. You build the campfire yourself using Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder. Food with an experience bonus speeds up leveling because most dishes give the Well Fed effect and +5% experience from kills. Cookie's Feast at skill 140 sets out food with a Stamina bonus for the camp.
First Aid crafts healing potions from herbs and Cooking spices. A Minor Healing Potion is made from Peacebloom, Mild Spices, and an empty vial. First Aid also creates antidotes, poultices for diseases, and tourniquets for bleeding. Toxin Study and Plague Doctor's Laboratory provide free Healing Potions for your camp.
How to Fish in WoW Forever
WoW Forever fishing starts with Apprentice Fishing, which can be learned without a level requirement. There's a trainer in every capital city and by the water in every starting zone. Your first cast takes five steps:
- Buy a Fishing Pole from a Fishing Supply or Trade Supply vendor for a few copper and equip it.
- Open the professions window (K) and drag the Fishing button to your action bar, since it's not in your spellbook.
- Put a lure on the fishing pole.
- Face the water and click the Fishing button.
- When the bobber splashes, right-click it.
From there, fishing comes down to steps four and five.
Why Your Fish Got Away
The message “Your fish got away!” means your skill level is lower than the zone requires. You'll have more missed catches in areas where your Fishing level lags behind the zone's requirement. Lures make up for the missing points:
| Lure | Skill Bonus | Skill Required | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shiny Bauble | +25 | No requirements | 10 minutes |
| Nightcrawlers | +50 | Fishing 50 | 10 minutes |
| Bright Baubles | +75 | Fishing 100 | 10 minutes |
| Aquadynamic Fish Attractor | +100 | Fishing 100 | 5 minutes |
In starting zones, fish stop getting away once your skill reaches 25, and with a Shiny Bauble, they stay on the hook from the very first point. For capital cities, the threshold is higher (75). Redridge Mountains won't give any catches below skill level 55. It's easier to earn your first WoW Forever fishing points in the starting zone, since capital cities and Redridge Mountains require a higher skill level.
Profession Leveling Costs
Trainers charge a small fee per rank, ranging from 5 silver to 5 gold. Materials make up the bulk of the leveling cost. A character can train to the Apprentice rank (cap 75) in the early levels. The prices for the three higher ranks are given without the reputation discount:
| Rank | Skill Required | Cap | Character Level | Price at Trainer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Journeyman | 50 | 150 | 10 | 5 silver |
| Expert | 125 | 225 | 20 | 50 silver |
| Artisan | 200 | 300 | 35 | 5 gold |
A player on the Blizzard forums estimated the cost of leveling up a profession on October 19, 2026. Their estimate ranged from 100 to 700 gold, depending on the profession and the proportion of purchased materials. Our team packs ready-made materials for leveling to 150 or 300 into the Profession Materials Kit and includes a step-by-step crafting route with them. Another player on the same forum in September 2026 called Enchanting the most difficult profession to level while questing because there are few items to disenchant.
Cheapest Way to Skill Up
The skill point gained from crafting depends on the recipe's color:
| Recipe Color | Skill Point |
|---|---|
| Orange | Always |
| Yellow | With a good chance |
| Green | With a low chance |
| Gray | Never |
It's cheapest to craft orange and yellow recipes, since green and gray recipes spend materials with little or no chance of gaining a skill point. You can start leveling gathering professions from level 1, as the starting zones have junior trainers (Kelsey Fargo in Northshire) and Poor Copper Veins. Excess materials from this gathering go into Waylaid Crates to earn Merchant's Favor. A tailor recoups part of the leveling costs with bags and reagent bags, which sell well to other players.
Level Your Professions Faster
Our team levels up WoW Forever professions on your character. The booster will coordinate the start time with you. Our WoW Forever boosting services offer four options for crafting and gathering:
- WoW Forever Profession Boost - our team brings any of the 12 professions or Lockpicking up to 300. The collected materials are yours.
- WoW Forever Leatherworking Boost and WoW Forever Tailoring Boost - the booster raises the skill to 300 or to the level you need, using either your materials or ours.
- WoW Forever Crafted Items & Blueprints - here you purchase ready-made BoE items such as Hide of the Wild and the Devilsaur Set. This catalog also includes Reagent Bags and Blueprint recipes.
- WoW Forever US Gold and WoW Forever EU Gold - the gold covers the costs of trainers, recipes, and materials if you're leveling up on your own.
In your order, you specify the region, ruleset, and faction, because the transfer takes place within those parameters (the character does not change ruleset or faction). Our team delivers BoE items and gold via mail or trade.
WoW Forever Professions FAQ
Do gathering professions give Legacy Points?
Gathering and secondary professions do not give Legacy Points. The six crafting professions each give one point upon reaching the Journeyman, Expert, and Artisan caps. Reaching the same cap on an alt character does not give an additional point, as points are account-wide.
Can you sell crafted gear in WoW Forever?
You can sell BoE items to other players. These include Hide of the Wild, the Devilsaur Set, and the Felcloth Bag. BoP items (such as the Robe of the Archmage and Truefaith Vestments) stay with the tailor who crafted them.
Do tailors get extra cloth in Forever?
Tailoring does not increase cloth drops. Tailors receive cloth on the same basis as everyone else, since cloth drops from humanoids for any class. But Tailoring does not require its own gathering profession, because the raw materials for it drop from mobs.
Which items raise profession skill in Forever?
The Enchant Gloves - Mining and Enchant Gloves - Advanced Mining enchantments give the Mining skill a +2 and +5 bonus. Miner's Cape and Goblin Mining Helm give the same +2 and +5 bonuses. Food from Cooking increases the Fishing or Herbalism skill.
Is fishing worth leveling in WoW Forever?
Fishing pays off because fish are used in Cooking and in oils for Alchemy flasks. You can also retrieve rings and rare items from the water. Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza now rewards the top 50 winners with the Extravagant Extravaganza Coin currency for purchases from Jang. The camp objects Fishing Rack (140) and Fishing Hut (300) give an hour of fishing for uncommon and rare fish.
Is Lockpicking a profession in WoW Forever?
Lockpicking remains a class skill for Rogues and does not take up a profession slot. The same applies to Poisons. Blizzard classifies Lockpicking as a class profession, which the Working Overtime perk speeds up.
